Gary James of Classic Bands.com has just published a wonderful interview with Ernie. In it, they discuss Ernie's friendships with Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix, Ronnie Van Zandt, Ed King, and a number of other music greats as well as the early beginnings and the popularity of Ernie and The Emperors. Most interesting is how it was Frank Sinatra who "discovered" the young, teenage band and signed them to his label, Reprise Records.
"He (Morrison) wasn't flamboyant. He wasn't ostentatious.
He was a very down to earth guy. It surprised me.
He was kind of vulnerable in my eyes."
